Choose Life

Scripture Reference:

Deuteronomy 30:19 'I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore, choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:'

 

In 20 days and 11 hours and 19 minutes (at the approximate time of this post, depending on where you are in the world) the year 2022 will have arrived. 

 

I have a singular resolve within my soul that stands above the uncertainties of uncounted tomorrows. JESUS is the anchor for my soul. I realize that I must be certain of this stronghold for my life as the new year looms nearer. 

 

Life is an ever-evolving kaleidoscope of tumbling events that often seem unrelated, without reason, or beyond my comprehension. I have heard it said that the flapping of a butterfly’s wings (a simple often unnoticed action) can set in motion the torrent and devastation of a tsunami. So it is, with a quiet act of kindness. A gift from a generous heart. An unseen prayer of thanks. All, and each of these, are seen by our Heavenly Father who is keenly aware of each one of us. HIS faithfulness gives the hopeful heart faith to face the relentless ticking clock and turning pages of the calendar that mark the moments of our life in time. Our GOD stands as a fixed point of clarity and surety as we continue this journey of our walk of faith with HIM.

 

We can choose to look at the past and see only it's struggles, lack, sorrows, or tears. We can choose to look at the past and see GOD's presence walking with us, and within us, providing HIS comforting Holy Spirit that did not leave us to face the pains alone. Our perspective will embolden our faith's posture. 

 

Our confident expectation in the WORD of GOD will gird us up in the spirit of our mind to continue to believe in HIS unchanging integrity. GOD keeps HIS WORD to us for HIS names sake. 

 

As JESUS prayed to the Father before HIS crucifixion, 

        John 17:15-17 "I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.  They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." 

 

I must continue to live this life of faith in JESUS CHRIST until JESUS rips the shell of flesh away from my spirit-soul and I am suddenly, immediately, and forever with JESUS in eternity. I continue to strive each day to keep JESUS ever before me. Abiding in HIS WORD, in HIS love, in HIS perfecting peace. I am as dependent upon HIS care now, as I was when I first took breath.

 

Each of us has been given a measure of faith. Like seeds planted in soil, we have the freedom to plant that faith in the person or thing we will. If we choose to plant our faith in an earthly thing (money, self, humanism, nothing) then we will surely reap the fruit of that tree which is separation from GOD. If we choose to plant our faith in heavenly things (GOD's righteousness, the Kingdom of GOD, JESUS and HIS atoning sacrifice) then we will reap the fruit of that tree the blessed hope of eternal life with JESUS forever.

 

This choice is the most crucial choice of every person who has drawn breath and come to a moment of clarity to know the choice will be made. Whether the choice is definitive or passive and non-committal, that too, is a choice. 

 

As the scripture speaks, 'Choose life.' 

 

1 John 5:11-12 'And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.’

 

I know no other truth so faithful; I know no other love so true save JESUS CHRIST the LORD and KING of heaven. I have no lasting treasure here on earth but this saving grace from heaven that envelopes my soul every moment and I am glad. It is JESUS and only JESUS that clasps firmly my hand and leads me into unseen tomorrows by HIS abiding WORD, indwelling Holy Spirit, and the lively hope of salvation at last.


May JESUS and HIS abounding grace continually comfort, guide, and sustain you always.

At Ease

Scriptural Reference: John 8:32 (KJV) "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Ephesians 4:25 (KJV) "But speaking the truth in love...."   Full sigh and deep breath.  Repeat. This is the way I am right now and since some special dear people who love me have spoken life transforming truth(s) to me.  There are occasions when we may find ourselves in conversations about our lives that has been witnessed by long-time friends, and close family relations. Our mutual proximity to one another is often a place where true bonds of emotional vulnerability and trust are created and strengthened with time. I am so grateful to JESUS for providing such an environment and persons who promote this type of atmosphere in my life. I know that this is not common. I am certain this is unique. hopscotch, yo-yo's, and tic-tac-uh-oh!! (aka baby steps in faith)

Scriptural Reference: Romans 8:28, ' And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love GOD, who are the called according to HIS purpose.' sometimes, we offer the comfort we need to someone else before we actually feel comfort or comforted. we may extend our heart to pray in faith while waiting for the answer to our prayer. all i know is that JESUS loves me. i know because HE told me so. i know that HE has a plan for my life. that is all i know. i do not understand HIS mind, HIS ways, but i am practicing trusting HIS love. HE is breath close and HE is thought near.
