Crucify Him

Scripture Reference: Luke 23: 20-21 'Pilate therefore, willing to release JESUS, spoke again to them.' 'But they cried, saying, Crucify Him! Crucify Him!'

The cry of the Jews, 'Crucify Him!!' was more than an angry mob’s collective insanity or political protestations. That mantra 'Crucify Him!' was the groaning ache of all humanity crushed under the subjection of hope that our Redeemer would once, and at last, clear the debt and penalty of sin by HIS perfect sacrifice and sure resurrection.

The jeering Jews called out from the years of weekly Sabbaths and sacrifices in the temple. They cried out from the countless years spent lighting the temple lamps, preparing the show-bread, burning the incense, lamenting the Psalms, and waiting for Messiah. There, in that courtyard, the Israelite sons and daughters drowned in the stream of animal’s blood that made the way clean between GOD and the Israelite children until the following mornings' sun scorched their sin-stained souls again. Enmity was bred within the children of Adam’s cumulative heart. They knew only the tradition that pointed the way to a better and completely sufficient offering that would thoroughly clear the way for all men everywhere.

The children of Israel, children of Abraham, children of Noah, children of Adam all cried in unison together. The children of unborn Gentile nations joined that chorus in a wailing outcry to the One JESUS, The Messiah sent from GOD to deliver us from the wages, penalty, and condemnation of sin.

JESUS answered with HIS back streaked with blood that was given to the whip. HIS tender hands that did not sin were surrendered to the spikes. HIS feet that tread the earth with a message of grace and truth were pierced through upon a cross. HIS brow that was not haughty from HIS Divinity, Deity, or Eternal Royalty wore a thorny crown of humility and meekness. HIS hands that touched our collective souls’ leprosy did not recoil from the spikes nailing HIM to our cross. My cross. HE surrendered HIS body in crucifixion. HE stripped evil of its claim on Adam’s children when HE gave HIS breath to death for our lives. For my life. For our life in HIM.

The tomb bound JESUS only long enough to mete the measure from 1 day to 3 to eradicate every fable of man’s foolish imagining. JESUS preached liberty to those who lay waiting in Abrahams faithful bosom. HE proclaimed a liberty they hoped to know. JESUS snatched the keys from death, hell, and the grave by the power of HIS effective authority over every power, principality, dominion, and kingdom of the visible and invisible worlds.

JESUS rose with the brightness of heaven’s glory proclaiming with sonic waves the glorious beauty and power of Salvation. As HE ascended from earth though the veiled heavens HE trumpeted Victory and Freedom. HE ascended until HE subdued all things under HIS feet. As it will be upon HIS return, HE split the veil of time and eternity with an open show of HIS Eternal Majesty!!

When Israel uttered its cry, ‘Crucify Him!’ all of humanity stood pleading for the Savior to Redeem us and JESUS did just that upon the cross.

Scriptural Reference: John 8:32 (KJV) "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Ephesians 4:25 (KJV) "But speaking the truth in love...."   Full sigh and deep breath.  Repeat. This is the way I am right now and since some special dear people who love me have spoken life transforming truth(s) to me.  There are occasions when we may find ourselves in conversations about our lives that has been witnessed by long-time friends, and close family relations. Our mutual proximity to one another is often a place where true bonds of emotional vulnerability and trust are created and strengthened with time. I am so grateful to JESUS for providing such an environment and persons who promote this type of atmosphere in my life. I know that this is not common. I am certain this is unique. Victory in Silence

Scriptural Reference: Colossians 4:6 kjv "Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." There is victory in silence. I grew up in the 'hood. No excuses. No shame. Just the 'hood. The smell of fried chicken wafting through hot kitchen open windows. The staggering drunk singing, 'Wooopiee LaLa Lee!' Kids of all ages running up and down the street. Jump rope. Hop scotch. Patty cake and relay races. We would play up and down our block until the street lights came on.
